Parkinsonov zakon
Posao se širi tako da popuni preostalo vrijeme za njegovo obavljanje. Poznat je i kao studentski sindrom. Ako imate sedam dana na raspolaganju da završite posao koji se može uraditi za dan, šest dana nećete ništa raditi, nego ćete se tek sedmog dana latiti posla. Pa ćete posao završiti osmi dan u ponoć i probiti rok. Britanski istoričar Siril Nortkot Parkinson (1909-1993), objavio je 1958. godine "Parkinsonov zakon", rezultat istraživanja univerzalnih principa funkcionisanja birokratije. Parkinsonov zakon - kao i Marfijevi, uostalom - ozbiljno se proučavaju i na nekim od vodećih svetskih univerziteta, koliko god se činila prostim zapažanja da se svaki posao produžava do isteka poslednjeg roka (Prvi Parkinsonov zakon ili ono drugo, da broj ljudi u svakoj radnoj grupi teži umnožavanju bez obzira na količinu posla koji valja obaviti (Četvrti Parkinsonov zakon). Tridesetak godina kasnije, Parkinson je - družeći se sa A.H. Hajnekenom, poznatim vlasnikom pivara, ovome sugerisao potrebu državnog preuređenja Evrope. Federaciju Sjedinjenih država Evrope bi, po toj zamisli, trebalo da čini osamdesetak nacionalnih država, od kojih nijedna ne bi imala manje od dva ni više od desetak miliona stanovnika. Dve godine posle Parkinsonove smrti, Hajneken je - objavljujući mapu Evrotopije - naglasio da je na njegovo uverenje u ispravnost projekta znatno uticao "vrlo tužan primer Jugoslavije".
